2026 Inaugural Leadership Summit

On Thursday, February 12, 2026, the Black Manitoba Network had a successful Leadership Summit.

Themed Building Resilient Communities, this Black History Month Event celebrated Black excellence, centred action-driven conversations, and fostered collaboration.

We were privileged to be joined by Black Leaders, Professionals, Entrepreneurs, Youth and our Allies. We celebrated community and shaped the future of our economy.

From thought-provoking conversations to music that uplifted all, this summit celebrated leadership that lasts.

Speaker Highlights

The Deputy Mayor, Markus Chambers, emphasized that the greatest inheritance isn’t just wealth but a resilient, powerful system that allows young people to become what they dream of.

The Honourable Jamie Moses gave insights into growth opportunities available through the Province of Manitoba.

Isha Khan reminded us that in pursuing leadership, we must understand our past because knowing our past shapes what we contribute to others

Keynote Speaker Allana Schmidt shed light on the importance of building trust and collaborations to grow as a community.’Segun Olude touched on how we weave the figure together. To remain standing, we must work together.

Panel Highlights

Harun Kibirige, highlighted African mothers as pillars of leadership, leading with grace and quiet strength.

Natalie Bell, challenged us to confront the barriers that attempt to break us.

Richard Thomas encouraged us to strive to leave the world a better place.

Titi Tijani helped us understand that community is about dignity and holding the systems accountable.

Ogo Okwumabua shared opportunities that uplift community entrepreneurs. We must first believe in ourselves to succeed.

A common message that echoed throughout the Summit was that leadership is not just a title, it’s a responsibility. It is our responsibility to build a resilient community for the next generation.
